How do i go about finding someone to design my prototype?

I have an excellent idea for a prototype of a small gadget product. It is mostly plastic, but will have to include metal parts and some digital programming aspects, but nothing too extensive. Where should i go to find someone who can design a prototype based off of my idea. I need more detailed technical designs and a prototype before i can go about getting a proper patent. Any ideas?
