Do you have to do a lot of sanding or finishing, or does it come out pretty smooth like the 3d model?
I saw this shit on the news. Amazing. What was funny was I was thinking. Hum… I wish we could have devices that would make stuff and 20 seconds later the news comes up with this thing. That is kick ass. Amazing, Can this thing make movie props like a Glock 17?
@krustikov1 At 0:27 the machine started the work on the hand and i dont think it continued there cuz it doesnt have an object to work on, it would be basically staying in the air so i wonder how did the make that piece, did they switch the object?
Is this an experimental model it is so tall

@ryanstewart86 yeah, I’m sure servo motors would be a better choice, although they require more control interfacing for the encoders and pwm controls

you know small brushed dc motors would eradicate most of that resonation and wont overheat and would be faster plus easier cheaper interface with feedback encoder. Just a thought

im not sure about this printer, but the printer at our school that uses the same plastic prints pretty durable plastic. just make sure you dont have models with sharp corners, i had a cube model slice my finger. it left a scar.
that is AWESOME. but how durable is it? I’ve been looking for a way to mold and cast weapons for my transformers, but maybe this would be easier.

@jtrain9 Holy shit? You’d be waiting a week at best if you paid & sent the file to some company to print it & ship it to you. & yes 6 inches is the original design limit, but it’s an open source project & they’ve been tweaking, it as well to see what exactly it’s capable of.
I was listening to an interview with with the guys who made this and I thought they said it can only print up to 6 inches high?? Anyways these things look awesome and I wish I could afford one. And one last thing, 6 hours! Holy shit hahah.
